Mrs. Reca
Hello! My name is Mrs. Debora Figard. I have been teaching over 30 years and I have been in the Voorhees Township School District for over 30 years. I have taught several grade levels; first, second and fourth and I became the Reading Specialist at Osage in 2017. I am involved in many outside literacy organizations, such as the West Jersey Reading Council. I am also a member of the New Jersey Literacy Association and a member of the International Literacy Association. I invite you to check out the links I have included on my web page.
I earned my Masters Degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. I love to read and I enjoy bringing my passion for reading to the Osage students. During the summer of 2013, I earned a Reading Specialist Certificate after attending classes and working in the reading clinic at Rider University with Susan Glaser as my professor and mentor. I provide many opportunities to get Osage students excited about reading! In 2014, I piloted the Writing Workshop by Lucy Calkins and I am so happy to teach reading and writing to the students at Osage School. Every fall and spring I visit Columbia University and attend the Reading and Writing Project Saturday Classes with Lucy Calkins. I learn many innovative and creative methods to teach reading and writing and I am eager to bring what I have learned to the students at Osage Elementary School.
