~ Enrichment Program Information ~
The Voorhees Township Enrichment Program consists of two main components for grades K-8.
~ Sparks Groups ~
Students with particular strengths are recommended by classroom teachers to work on these skills with the building enrichment teacher. Grades K-2 may qualify for Sparks in January based upon teacher recommendation, standardized test scores, content area proficiency, and creativity. Participation in all Sparks classes is fluid and can change at any time based upon student performance during classes.
~ Identified Enrichment Groups ~
Students displaying extraordinary academic excellence are identified starting in grade 3. Students qualify on a matrix based upon standardized test scores, content area proficiency, creativity and teacher recommendation. Students must have a composite score in the top 5% of their grade level on the EP matrix. In grades 3-5, these students are serviced through a weekly pull-out program of up to 2 hours per week. Letters are sent to qualifying students by the building principal in September.
~ Voorhees Middle School ~
Sixth grade students at Voorhees Middle School who qualify for the Enrichment Program rotate through a related arts cycle in technology education, STEM and vocal music. Seventh grade students receive instruction in technology education, music, engineering and design, and Spanish. Eighth grade students are offered high school level algebra I, Spanish I, accelerated language arts and accelerated art.
