Chapter 1 - Journey to Kumasi
Chapter 1 is a great chapter to teach foreshoadowing. Kofi and his family discuss the slave trade and how it will never affect them. Chapter 1 is also where you meet Kofi and his family. This tree helps the reader to keep track of the relationships.

Chapter 2 focuses on the ceremony at Kumasi. Mrs. Hansen brings to life the experience through vivid wording that appeals to the 5 senses. It is perfect for teaching visualization and imagery.
