In Mrs. Bland's 4th grade class you will participate in the Juice Brigade.
What is the "Juice Brigade"?
Our class is a part of TerraCycles' juice brigade. We collect juice bags and send them to TerraCycle. TerraCycle then converts the collected waste into a wide variety of products and materials. With more than 20 million people collecting waste in over 20 countries TerraCycle has diverted billions of units of waste and used them to create over 1,500 different products available at major retailers ranging from Walmart to Whole Foods Market. Their goal is to eliminate the idea of waste by creating collection and solution systems for anything that today must be sent to a landfill. Upcycle means to create. Not only does Terracycle stop waste from entering our landfills, it also sends us money for each juice pouch we collect. Currently they give us one cent for each juice pouch. Goals for 2011-2012
In the 2011-12 school year, our goal was to collect 5,000 juice pouches. We collected a total of 5,443 juice pouches.
