Meet Mrs. Eskenas
Mr. Eskenas & Mrs. Eskenas on their wedding day!
Mrs. Eskenas, Mr. Eskenas, and Max on his 1st birthday!
Mrs. Eskenas is an avid Philadelphia sports fan!
My name is Mrs. Eskenas. Many of you might know me better by my maiden name, Ms. Dubowitch. This is my fourteenth year of teaching. I have spent the majority of my career as a 5th grade teacher. Prior to beginning my teaching career at Signal Hill, I taught 4th grade at E.T. Hamilton and was a substitute teacher in the district for one year.
I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary and Kindergarten Education. During my time at Penn State, I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time in various school districts, such as Milton, PA, where I participated in a field experience in a 6th grade classroom at Milton Middle School. My student teaching was completed in Philadelphia, PA in a full-day kindergarten classroom at Martha Washington Academics Plus Elementary School.
Like my students, I love to learn. In 2014, I decided to go back to graduate school to further my education. I enrolled in Walden University, so I could learn about the new Common Core Mathematics program and the most current teaching practices. After a year of enriching courses, I received my certification to specialize in teaching Mathematics K-8.
When I am not teaching, I love to read, travel, play tennis, go to sporting events and concerts, and spend time with my family and friends. During the summer, I usually head down to the Jersey shore, where my family has a shore house. In the fall, I love to watch football. The Eagles will always be my favorite team, but I am a season ticket holder to the Jets (thank you Mr. Eskenas!) I have traveled to many places, such as Mexico, California, Florida, Massachusetts, Israel and numerous Caribbean Islands. My favorite vacation was when I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon in 2017. I also lived in Florence, Italy for four months when I was in college and had the opportunity to travel all throughout Europe. I have seen many amazing things and would love to share my experiences with you!
I am so excited that you are a part of my class this year. Thanks so much for taking the time to get to know me!
