Sight Words
Sight words are a critical component to reading not only because they are used so often, but also because many of them cannot easily be illustrated of sounded out. Because they are used so often, it is important for students to recognize these words on sight (i.e. “sight words”).
Successful readers use a number of tools to help them comprehend texts. But one of the most effective and powerful reading tool that parents and teachers can help children develop is sight word recognition. When a child is able to grasp and identify sight words, he/she will be well on their way to becoming a thriving reader.
