Thursday, January 8, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 23 Meeting TBD at 6:30 p.m.
These meetings provide an opportunity for parents to learn about the important issues facing our school and the many activities that take place at Signal Hill.
Membership
Membership to SHPFA is open to every Signal Hill teacher, staff member, and family. Membership forms will be distributed in September and will be available at Back to School Night and other events. Membership is strongly encouraged and offers you an active voting voice. Membership is a minimum donation of $10 per family. All SHPFA Officers, Room Parents, and volunteers are active SHPFA members.
SHPFA Activities
SHPFA collaborates with parents, teachers, and administrators to sponsor many events during the school year. Some of these events are focused on fundraising so we are able to give back to Signal Hill in a meaningful way. Special events, such as assemblies and Family Fun Night are focused on promoting school spirit and community. Other events are values-oriented and provide our children the opportunity to give to others, such as the Thanksgiving Adopt-a-Family. If you have an idea for an event, or would like to recommend a local business sponsor, please let us know!
Meet your 2018-2019 SHPFA Officers
President
Shari Shapiro
SHPFA’s President is responsible for the general management of the organization and working closely with Signal Hill School’s Principal, staff, and parents to achieve the SHPFA mission. While assisting Board VPs and committee chairs, the President will make sure each event adheres to school policy and expectations. The President is committed to understanding and addressing parents and staff concerns as they relate to SHPFA-sponsored events, and will welcome new ideas. To provide opportunity for communication and planning, the President will schedule regular and efficient meetings. Finally, SHPFA’s President will respect the time of the SHPFA Board, parents and teachers, and remind everyone, including our students, to have fun along the way!
Board Advisor
Peachie Moore
SHPFA’s immediate past president serves in this role to assist in a smooth transition with the new president. They ensure the board continues to uphold their responsibilities by providing help where needed.
First Vice President – Signal Hill Spirit and Values
Donielle Friendenthal
Jennifer Parks
SHPFA’s 1st Vice President will organize several events aimed at promoting school spirit and providing opportunities for our children to “give back.” Past projects have included the MLK Day of Service, captivating Assemblies, and Spirit Wear sales. Brandi Seltzer
SHPFA’s 2nd Vice President is tasked with all fundraising events that engage the school community and raise needed funds to make impactful gifts to Signal Hill. Some fundraisers include our annual Holiday Shop, School Store, BoxTops for Education and AmazonSmile. Each year they will continue to look for new and exciting ways to raise funds to give back to Signal Hill School.

SHPFA’s Treasurers are chiefly responsible for being custodians of SHPFA’s finances, and providing financial information to support decision-making. Each year, the Treasurer’s will provide budget and expense advice for each SHPFA event, and provide a monthly budget and spending report to the Board. Also, the SHPFA Treasurer maintains all Race for Education donation information should parents wish to send thank you notes to their children’s donors. The Treasurers will also manage all SHPFA membership information.
Co-Liaisons

The Liaison will support the SHPFA Membership Drive, staff appreciations and play a significant role in coordinating the Thanksgiving Adopt-a-Family and Giving Tree.
