The West Jersey Reading Council is a dynamic organzation committed to the development and support of literacy initatives. We support our members with:
- Numerous professional development events including certification of PD hours as approved by the NJ Department of Education and the Professional Teaching Standards Board
- Fall and spring conferences highlighting the latest in best practices and current literacy research
- Informal networking events
- Author meet and greet events
- Professional collaboration through a network of building representatives
- Literacy projects reaching out to local and international communities through our literacy initiatives
- Support for family reading initatives
- Annual scholarships to aspiring teachers in the developing world
- Margaret A. Cagney Scholarship for graduate study
- Mary Cudemo-Schurig Literacy Award for community literacy efforts
- Celebrate Literacy Award sponsored by ILA for community literacy efforts

The mission of the West Jersey Reading Council is to promote literacy in Burlington and Camden counties through professional development, active membership, partnership with ILA and NJLA, and dissemination of pertinent research and practices.
