S.P.I.R.E (Specialized program individualizing Reading Excellence) is an Orton-Gillingham -based reading program created specifically to teach struggling readers and non-readers how to read. S.P.I.R.E is a ten-step lesson plan that methodically walks students through phonemic awareness and phonics, then spelling, vocabulary, comprehension and fluency, instilling and reinforcing every stage of reading development.
