In the event that your child needs to take medication during school hours, these criteria must be met for the school nurse to administer medication:
- A written order from the prescribing doctor stating the name of the medication, the dose, the time to be given, a start date and ending date and any side effects. The order must be signed, dated and stamped by the prescribing doctor.
- A written note from the parent stating all the same information the doctor has ordered.
- The medication must be in its original container and clearly labeled with your child's name.
These laws and school board policy apply to ALL medications including prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
ALL medication must be brought to the nurse's office by a parent. Students can not bring in the medication.
