Pinwheels for Peace
In September our Fourth grade students joined over 1200 schools worlwide in the "Pinwheels for Peace" project.  The project was conceived as an art installation by two Art teachers in Coconut Grove, Fla.  More information about the project at the Pinwheels for Peace site.  In class we discussed the meaning of peace, read poems and talked about the need for peace in the world.  The students designed their pinwheels and then wrote a poem or free verse expressing their feelings about peace.  We celebrated International World Peace Day by "planting" our pinwheels in front of the school.  My thanks to the students, teachers and Mrs. di Coio for their participation and support for this important and worthwhile project.
