School Admissions Requirements and Procedure

Requirements

According to Board of Education Policy 5111 all students who live in Voorhees Township with parents or a legal guardian shall be admitted to the Voorhees Public Schools without payment of tuition. Proof of residency and/or legal guardianship is required at registration by the administration.

Students whose parents are in the process of purchasing or renting a residence in the district may be enrolled in the schools on the following basis:

1. Parent shall show his/her agreement confirming purchase or rental, and estimated occupancy date.

2. Tuition will be charged to the parent from the first day of attendance until actual occupancy date.

3. Reimbursement of tuition will be made if the family occupies their home within 60 school days of the date of enrollment of the student.

Parents of students admitted while in the process of purchasing or renting, prior to occupancy, are responsible for the transportation of their children to and from school until the date of occupancy.

On a case by case basis, the superintendent is authorized to accommodate needs which require exceptions to or modifications of the above when they are in the best interest of the student and/or the school district.

Procedure

After determining what school a child will attend (See Sending Areas)parents or legal guardians should provide the following when registering the child:

  • Proof of Residency in the form of one of the following must be provided:
    • Agreement of sale
    • Voorhees tax bill
    • Settlement papers
    • Lease with parent and child's name listed
    • Residency Affidavit
  • Birth Certificate - an official document issued by the county or state of birth containing a raised seal.
  • Immunization Record which the school nurse will review and advise of any additional immunizations needed.
  • School Transfer Card from the child's former school for grades 1 through 8.
